Our Team

Kate has been with us at Advanced Optometry since September 2019. Her job duties include managing front office, scheduling patient appointments, answering phone calls, chart building, insurance authorizations, and being available to handle any office concerns that arise.

She enjoys and takes pride in helping our patients every day.

Some of her hobbies include camping, hiking and other outdoor activities.

Amber has been with us at Advanced Optometry since April 2018. Amber is CPOT certified. Her job duties include pre-testing patients, refractometry, and collecting patient data. 

Her favorite part of her job is getting to see the look on a patients face when they see through their first pair of glasses for the first time. As well as spending time with her coworkers.

Outside of work Amber enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, and reading. 

Ashley has been with us at Advanced Optometry since  September 2017. She has worked for us as an optician, a scribe, and is now our in house biller. ​Her job duties include front office tasks, scribing part time, as well as working with our billing and coding.

Ashley loves getting to help patients with their needs. One of her favorite things is seeing a young patient get glasses for the first time and they're able to see well.

Outside of work she enjoys her time being a new mom, spending time with her family and playing softball.

Melanie has been with us at Advanced Optometry since September 2021 as a scribe and is now our marketing manager for the practice. Melanie is CPOT certified. Her job duties include pre-testing patients, refractometry, collecting patient data and managing our social media.

Her favorite part of her job is helping and listening. Whether it be helping a patient see better and listening to their concerns, or helping one of her coworkers if they need an extra hand.

Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her children, reading, volunteering, crafting and baking, and spending her summers at Lake Michigan.

Autumn has been with us at Advanced Optometry since July 2024 as a receptionist in our Business Office. ​Her job duties include scheduling patient appointments, answering phone calls, chart building, insurance authorizations and check out.

Autumn loves to help patients and getting to learn new things.

Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Erin has been with us at Advanced Optometry since June 2023 as a optician, and is now also a front office team member. Her job duties include front office skills, as well as contact lens order, and optical duties. 

Erin's favorite part of her job is interacting with patients.

Outside of work she loves to spend time outdoors and hike.

Jordan has been with us at Advanced Optometry since May 2026 as a receptionist in our Business Office. Her job duties include scheduling patient appointments, answering phone calls, chart building, and insurance authorizations. 

After many years of caring for patients at Advanced Optometry, Dr. McDonald retired from clinical practice on September 30, 2026.
 

A Pine River High School alumnus, Dr. McDonald dedicated twelve years to serving in the U.S. Navy before returning to Michigan. He earned his doctorate from the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University and joined Advanced Optometry in 1999.
 

Throughout his years with the practice, Dr. McDonald became a familiar and trusted provider to generations of patients and families throughout the community. His commitment to thoughtful, personal eye care has been an important part of Advanced Optometry’s history and continues to influence the care we provide today.
 

Dr. McDonald and his wife, Sherry, are enjoying this new chapter together, spending time with their growing family and grandchildren and continuing to be part of the community.
 

Although Dr. McDonald is no longer seeing patients, we are proud to continue recognizing his many years of service and the lasting relationships he built with our patients.

​Lyndsay has been with us at Advanced Optometry since December 2024 as a scribe. Lyndsay is CPO certified. Her job duties include pre-testing patients, collecting patient data and aiding doctor in office.

Her favorite thing about her job is meeting new people and helping them see their best.

Outside of work she enjoys baking, and spending time with family and friends.

Delaney has been with us at Advanced Optometry since May 2025. She has worked in optical and our scribe department. Her job duties include pretesting patients, collecting patient data, and ordering/dispensing glasses. Delaney also speaks Spanish, to help aid our non English speaking patients. 

Her favorite part of her job is the collaborative effort of the whole office to get patients the best care possible.

Outside of work she enjoys playing disc golf and ice skating. She is also a student at Ferris State University. 

Amanda has been with us at Advanced Optometry since September 2016 as an Optician. Her job duties include teaching patients how to properly insert and remove contact lenses, helping patients in optical, verifying prescriptions, special testing and custom cutting lenses in office.

​Amanda's favorite part of her job is helping patients and making them feel good about what they wear every day, as well as creating relationships that keep them returning to our office.

Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her three fur babies, cooking, gardening, and spending time outdoors in nature.

​Janette has been with us at Advanced Optometry since September 2020 as an Optician. Her job duties include dispensing and adjusting glasses and helping patients pick out new eyewear.

​Her favorite part of her job is helping people see, and trouble shooting issues with eyeglasses.

When not at work, her interests include spending time with her family. They love to spend time outdoors, camping or hanging out at the beach.

Tabitha has been with us at Advanced Optometry since October 2023 as an optician. ​Her job duties include dispensing and adjusting glasses and helping patients pick out new eyewear.

Her favorite part of her job is knowing that when the patients she's helped walk away they've received the best care possible.
Also, her coworkers are wonderful to work with, which makes coming to work more enjoyable.

​Outside of work Tabitha enjoys playing board games with her husband and children, spending time at church, going on walks, trying new recipes, and going thrifting.

Lindsay has been with us at Advanced Optometry since November 2025 as an Optician. Her job duties picking out the best frame and lenses for patients needs, and dispensing and adjusting eyewear.

The favorite part of her job is helping patients find their frames and seeing them confident in their new eyewear.

Outside of work she enjoys reading, hanging out with her kids, and playing with her dogs. 

Cambelle has been with us at Advanced Optometry since February 2026 as an Optician. Her job duties picking out the best frame and lenses for patients needs, and dispensing and adjusting eyewear.

Sarah has been with us at Advanced Optometry since March 2026 as an Optician. Her job duties picking out the best frame and lenses for patients needs, and dispensing and adjusting eyewear.

Izzy has been with us at Advanced Optometry since March 2026. Izzy assists with eyewear dispensing and adjustments, pretesting, special testing, inventory and office support tasks while continuing training in optical services and patient care.​
